Bangle/Bracelet Size Measurement

At BRAXTON COLLEGE, we know that a bracelet or bangle is more than just an accessory — it is a reflection of your personal style. Whether you are drawn to the sculptural curves of our serpent bracelets, the organic flow of our leaf-shaped designs, or the playful texture of our irregular twist bracelet, finding the right size ensures that your piece moves with you in comfort and grace. This guide will help you measure accurately so that every BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelet you choose feels like it was made just for you.

Understanding the Difference: Bracelet vs. Bangle

Before you measure, it helps to understand the two main types of wrist jewelry we offer at BRAXTON COLLEGE:

  • Bracelets: These are flexible pieces with chains, links, or clasps. They wrap around your wrist and are fastened with a closure. Examples from our collection include the Isk Gold Simple Snake-Shaped Bracelet, the Silver Luxury Snake Bracelet, the Irregular Twist Bracelet, the Leaf-Shaped Luxury Bracelet, and the Pig Nose Style Zirconia Link Bracelet.

  • Bangles: These are rigid, solid loops that do not have a clasp. They slip over your hand and rest on your wrist. While our current collection focuses on flexible bracelets, this guide also includes bangle measurement tips for future releases or for customers who own bangles elsewhere and wish to compare sizing.

Because bracelets and bangles fit differently, we provide separate measurement methods for each.

Bracelet Size Measurement

Step 1 – Measure Your Wrist Circumference

Using a soft, flexible measuring tape, wrap it snugly around the wrist where you intend to wear your bracelet — just below the wrist bone, where your hand meets your forearm. The tape should sit comfortably against your skin without being too tight or too loose.

If you do not have a measuring tape, use a strip of paper, a piece of string, or even a thin ribbon. Wrap it around your wrist, mark the point where the ends overlap, and then lay it flat against a ruler to measure the length in inches or centimeters.

Step 2 – Determine Your Fit Preference

Once you have your wrist measurement, add the following allowances based on how you prefer your BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelet to feel:

Fit Type Added Length Feel
Snug Fit Add 0.25 – 0.5 inches (0.6 – 1.3 cm) Sits close to the skin without pinching. Ideal for chain bracelets like the Isk Gold Snake Bracelet.
Comfort Fit Add 0.5 – 0.75 inches (1.3 – 1.9 cm) The most popular choice. Allows the bracelet to move freely while staying securely on the wrist. Recommended for the Leaf-Shaped Luxury Bracelet and Silver Luxury Snake Bracelet.
Loose Fit Add 0.75 – 1 inch (1.9 – 2.5 cm) A relaxed fit that allows the bracelet to slide up and down the forearm slightly. Great for link styles like the Pig Nose Style Zirconia Link Bracelet.

Step 3 – Find Your Bracelet Size

Add your wrist measurement to your chosen fit allowance to get your ideal bracelet length. For example, if your wrist measures 6.5 inches and you prefer a comfort fit, your ideal bracelet size would be approximately 7 to 7.25 inches.

Most BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelets are available in standard lengths ranging from 6.5 to 8 inches. Many of our designs also feature adjustable extension chains of 1 to 2 inches, giving you the flexibility to fine-tune your fit.

Bangle Size Measurement

Bangles are rigid and do not open or close, so they must be sized differently. While our current BRAXTON COLLEGE collection focuses on flexible bracelets, we include this guide for customers who may be interested in future bangle releases or who own bangles and wish to compare sizing.

To determine your bangle size, you need to measure the circumference of your hand at its widest point — not just your wrist. This ensures the bangle can slide comfortably over your knuckles and hand.

Step 1 – Fold Your Hand

Bring your thumb inward across your palm, as if you are preparing to slip on a bangle. Fold your fingers together, keeping your hand as narrow as possible. This mimics the shape your hand takes when putting on a bangle.

Step 2 – Measure Around Your Hand

Wrap a soft measuring tape around the widest part of your hand, which is typically across your knuckles (including the thumb joint). Pull the tape snug but not tight, and note the measurement in inches or centimeters. This is your hand circumference.

Step 3 – Choose Your Bangle Diameter

Once you have your hand circumference, use the table below to determine the recommended bangle inner diameter:

Hand Circumference Recommended Bangle Inner Diameter
7 – 7.5 inches (17.8 – 19 cm) 2.4 – 2.5 inches (60 – 64 mm)
7.5 – 8 inches (19 – 20.3 cm) 2.5 – 2.6 inches (64 – 66 mm)
8 – 8.5 inches (20.3 – 21.6 cm) 2.6 – 2.8 inches (66 – 71 mm)
8.5 – 9 inches (21.6 – 22.9 cm) 2.8 – 2.9 inches (71 – 74 mm)

Tip: If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a bangle. A slightly larger bangle will still stay on your wrist, while a smaller one may get stuck or feel uncomfortable.

Measuring Existing Bracelets or Bangles

If you already own a bracelet or bangle that fits you perfectly, you can use it as a reference when shopping at BRAXTON COLLEGE.

For a Bracelet (with clasp):

  • Lay the bracelet flat on a ruler with the clasp closed.

  • Measure the total length from the end of the clasp to the farthest point of the bracelet.

  • This measurement is your bracelet length. Compare it to the size chart for our collection.

For a Bangle (rigid loop):

  • Place the bangle on a flat surface.

  • Measure the inner diameter from one inner edge to the opposite inner edge, passing through the center.

  • Use the inner diameter measurement to match against our bangle size recommendations.

Sizing for Our Bracelet Collection

Here is how each of our BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelet styles typically fits and what to consider:

  • Isk Gold Simple Snake-Shaped Bracelet ($35.00): A sleek chain-style bracelet with a snake motif. Best worn with a comfort fit to allow the snake design to rest beautifully on the wrist without twisting.

  • Silver Luxury Snake Bracelet ($38.00): A premium silver version with a bold serpent silhouette. We recommend a comfort to loose fit for this piece, as the larger links benefit from a bit of movement.

  • Irregular Twist Bracelet ($15.90): A textured, twisted design that offers a unique tactile feel. A snug fit works well here, as the twist pattern holds its shape against the skin.

  • Leaf-Shaped Luxury Bracelet ($18.99): A delicate leaf-motif bracelet. This piece is best worn with a comfort fit, allowing the leaf charms to shift naturally as you move.

  • Pig Nose Style Zirconia Link Bracelet ($28.00): A bold link bracelet with zirconia accents. A loose fit is recommended to showcase the links and allow the bracelet to drape elegantly.

All BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelets are designed with secure lobster clasps or fold-over closures, and many include adjustable extension chains for added versatility.

Pro Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Measure at the right time of day: Your wrist size can fluctuate throughout the day. For the most consistent measurement, measure in the late afternoon or evening when your wrists are at their average size.

  • Take multiple measurements: To ensure accuracy, measure your wrist three times and take the average. This helps account for any slight variations in tape placement or tension.

  • Consider the width of the bracelet: Wider bracelets or bangles tend to fit more snugly than thinner ones, because they cover more surface area. If you are choosing a wider link style like the Pig Nose Zirconia Bracelet, you may want to size up slightly.

  • Check the product description: Each BRAXTON COLLEGE bracelet listing includes specific sizing information, including the total length and whether the piece is adjustable. Always double-check the product page before ordering.
